We took a tour with the senior missionaries to the largest mosque in Accra. It is a replica of the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey and was built by the Turkish government. All of the materials came from Turkey. Within feet of the entry gate, is Nima, one of the humblest and most poverty-stricken areas in all
of Accra. The juxtaposition is ever apparent within the city.

There was a food delivery truck at a corner where numerous homeless
families shelter in place. Here children beg car to car while they are stopped at a red light. The young children run from window to window motioning they
want food by putting their hands to their mouths. Some drivers give the
beggars money, some give small wrapped biscuits, others shoo them away.

Today, though, there was a truck delivering food to the people. The press of
bodies was so great that the social worker poked a long stick into the group of
mothers and children to force order.

Fabrics at Esther's are all hand dyed batik. They are of the highest quality in a
lovely array of colors.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are on every street and just about every corner.
Shop, after shop, after shop sells the same type of goods. I have no idea how
the vendors make any money or distinguish themselves. Instead of competing
with each other, they seem to support one another. If the first vendor is out of
the item you’re looking for, they help you find it in another vendor’s shop.
