The on going countdown is ticking! We are 36 hours away from boarding the plane. The house is clean and scrubbed, Katie and family are coming from Carson City to say good bye. I will feel sad on holidays not to be her little family, but the over-all blessing of serving is the bigger picture.
We spent the last weeks wrapping up details to close down the house, attend the MTC and say goodbye to family and friends. Dale did a yeoman’s work to learn the ins and outs of insurance and internet cancellations and ongoing home maintenance while we’re away.
We participated in a virtual MTC experience for the week of May 31 to June 4. Our instructor was a young, newly returned missionary. What a task he had to work with 8 seniors, each with multiple years of church experience. He artfully lead interactive discussions that supported the goal of helping us see that we were now missionaries. We felt the importance of our callings and the strength of the spirit teaching us to enter the work with humility and determination.
Many lovely friends texted, called and stopped to visit. It was so nice of the Bailey's to host a farewell gathering for the neighbors on the street. We also loved having Katie and her family there to say good bye and drive us to the airport!!
