Sunday, we said goodbye in Sacrament Meeting and then Pres Jones set us apart. I shared personally meaningful thoughts from D&C 31: 1-3. Verse one: "Blessed are you because of your faith in my work." We pray we are demonstrating our faith in His work. Verse two: "You have many aflictions beause of your family…I will bless you and your family, yea, your little ones; and the day cometh that they will believe and know the truth and be one with you in my church." Lovely and glorious promise. Verse three: "Lift up your heart and rejoice, for the hour of your mission is come." Wow, it is time to go to Ghana! Dale gave a powerful sermon on repentance. Good meeting. Since none of the kids could be there, we gave them a link to the meeting. They were with us without leaving home. We shared a family experience without travel. Liz sent a picture of her little family in front of my image on their TV screen. I loved it!
President Jones blessed Dale that the Lord would make the way possible for us to be successful. To me he said to be involved and share my time with the people.
After we got home we experienced, what I am confident, was Mission Miracle. After sacrament meeting I heard the doorbell ring. Dale had gone to a neighbors, so I went to the door only to see Greg Newell of all people standing there. He had seen an obituary: a reference to a death where the woman’s son-in-law‘s name was Dale G Munk, wife Jody, daughter Cynthia. The names were close and it had been years since our paths had crossed, so Greg assumed it was our family and was coming to pay his respects with a lovely card and some Swedish cookies. I was confused, thinking he knew about our mission and was coming to say goodbye. After some back-and-forth we figured out the situation. In the conversation I discovered he was doing business in Nigeria. His words struck me hard. Work in Africa! Luckily, Dale returned about this time. He and Greg had a quick reunion and a quicker talk about Africa. All three of us felt the distinct impression that his visit today was not by chance, but the Lord‘s hand was truly guiding it. It gave us confidence that Heavenly Father is aware of our prayers.
