November 8, 2021

Monday, November 8 in the afternoon we had a chance meeting with the manager of a tennis club who turned out to be church member. We were the only car on a very lonely coastal back road while looking for a way to walk to the beach. We saw a possible opening and stopped.

It seems to us, that many of these people can control only a few parts of their life. So, when there is a rule they can enforce, they do! The tennis club was on a very lonely road. We saw no other people and no other cars. The club appeared very worn and unused. But the rule was Members Only. A security guard appeared and was ready to ask us to leave when he noticed our name badges. A second man, the manager, walked up, and graciously invited us into the walled area, but only if we reverse parked (backed-in) the truck on the small dirt strip used as a parking area. With a smile, Dale walked to the truck, started the engine and turned it around. The manager was happy with our compliance and we enjoyed a serene afternoon looking over the rocky shoreline. He brought out chairs, drinks and visited with us. He loves the Church and what being a member has done for him and his family. We were happy to represent something that was so near and dear to his heart.
