All Are Alike Unto God

Here are a few of my favorites from the 12th Annual International Art Competition, which were inspired by the verse:

“…He inviteth them all to home unto Him and partake of His goodness; and He denieth none that come unto Him, black and white, bond and free, male and female…” (2 Nephi 26:33)

Remove This Anger from My Heart

Artist: GayLynn Ribeira

This painting illustrates a story of faith, love, and forgiveness during the “Freeze” in Ghana. An eight-year-old boy couldn’t understand why he could not be baptized. His mother was inspired to initiate a conversation with the soldier preventing access to the meetinghouse and learned he had not eaten that entire day/ Delivering a plate of food opened doors of understanding and forgiveness.

How Beautiful upon the Mountains Are the Feet

Artist: Susan S. Morris

While this scene is now dated, the artist noted the feet of sisters waiting to do proxy work in the temple.

She was impressed by the fact that we are more alike than different, as we join the Lord’s service.

One by One

Artist: Caylee Murdock

The artist wanted to impress upon the viewer that every baptism is surrounded by a throng of family celebrating the joy of redemption, sometimes on this side of the veil, and always by unseen participants.

In the Presence of Greatness

Artist: Mary Smith

A scene we see daily. I was impressed with the artist’s statement that noticing the strength of these women make it easier for the artist to love herself. That is good food for thought as we witness similar women in the AWA.
