Wednesday morning in Ghana 🇬🇭! We started with an endowment session in the Ghana Temple, our first since Covid shut everything down. The temple is the same in all places, even where the language is different, culture is different and skin color is in such a contrast to ours. I realized what an anchor the gospel is in our lives and how it blesses and serve as an anchor to our family.

After the temple I attended 9:00 am weekly Sister Scripture Study where there was a discussion on The Family Proclamation. The truths that seemed so ordinary in 1995, are so foreign to the world today—marriage between a man and woman, gender being ordained from God.

We are now in a mission conference (10:15 am) with the young elders and sisters from the Accra and West Accra missions with Elder Vincent (70 visiting from SLC) and the area presidency. Probably 90% of the missionaries are African. The missionaries were instructed that the key to converting is to soften hearts through the spirit of the Holy Ghost. Only the Holy Ghost can teach the heart.
Love, share, invite is the new way of missionary work.

Elder Vincent admonished the missionaries not to waste time, but love, serve the people, and share the gospel. 1978 was the year gatherings of people in West Africa, prior to then they met in units without priesthood. When the revelation came that all worthy males could hold the priesthood, they finally got the blessings of the official church throughout Africa.

Find what the Lord would have you do.
Stay on covenant path
Seek gainful employment
Seek a spouse.

I know my redeemer lives. I see him, I hear him in my life. When I began to make correct choices,  I learned to hear his voice. Learn to listen to revelation. President Nelson listens to the voice if the Lord.

Relearn what you know is true.

  1. JoAnn, did you know Matt Reier, Shelly's former husband, was in Africa a few years ago taking photos of the temples, including the Ghana temple?
